When Donkeys Talk by Tyler Blanski is a clever book with a catchy title. As the subtitle explains, the book is about the author’s Quest to Rediscover the Mystery and Wonder of Christianity and hopefully yours.
This is not a pretentious book by any means, so if you are very “religious” you will be offended, which makes this exactly the type of book you need to read.
If you have been in church all of your life and your walk with Christ is just blah — if your walk with Christ feels like you’re just punching the clock — this is a great book for you.
Blanski is a brilliant writer and a terrific thinker. He explores some of the fundamentals of Christian faith and doesn’t shy away from weighty theological issues, but always in a light and appealing manner.
Blanski invites you back to the place where you expected God to do the impossible, where Balaam’s talking donkey wouldn’t be so unbelievable and you have such strong faith in God, that His ability to perform miracles is logical.
Tyler uses the Bible, tradition, and reason as basis for his arguments and tends to be irenic in his approach.
In general, When Donkeys Talk is a great read from a fresh voice.
