Day 9 – Heaven Knows

Matthew 5:10 “You’re blessed when your commitment to God provokes persecution. The persecution drives you even deeper into God’s kingdom. 11 “Not only that – count yourselves blessed every time people put you down or throw you out or speak lies about you to discredit me. What it means is that the truth is too close for comfort and they are uncomfortable. 12 You can be glad when that happens – give a cheer, even! – for though they don’t like it, I do! And all heaven applauds. And know that you are in good company. My prophets and witnesses have always gotten into this kind of trouble.

At some point your outlandish devotion to God is going to rub others the wrong way. They’ll be quick to say that you’re intolerant, put words in your mouth and otherwise persecute you. Should this happen, you a assured that God is paying attention and that all of heaven is in your corner.

  1. True, that it is a 2-way street. We often focus on what others have done to us, forgetting that we are also guilty of mistreating others.

Heaven does see all that happens.

  2. I agree. In any relationship I will be sinned against and I will sin against the other. We’re not exempt. No amount of maturity brings us to a place where we escape sinning against each other. Not on this side of the grave.

And, our outlandish devotion should shake things up. I don’t think God wants us to be paper dolls. Faction is human. Not just Christian.
