Matthew 6:6 “Here’s what I want you to do: Find a quiet, secluded place so you won’t be tempted to role-play before God. Just be there as simply and honestly as you can manage. The focus will shift from you to God, and you will begin to sense his grace.”
So many times what we want to do is role-play for God. Somewhere in our psyche we have concluded that dramatic prayer is appealing to God. On the contrary, all the drama brings is a revelation that the relationship with the Father is lacking and shallow.
When you understand that the Father knows what you need even better than you do… When you are convinced that Father wants and even longs to bring you into the fullness of abundant life, then you can relax a bit.
Jesus reminds us of the most important thing followed by some imortant additions. First things first, just be there. Simply and honestly, as much as you can.
