Are all sins equal?

I’ve heard this said many times, sin is sin.  Here’s my challenge.  If you believe that, prove it, if not prove that.

  1. Are all sins equal? No, a year ago I would have said “yes.” But, as I have come to give myself more to the study of God’s Word, I am at a different place now in my understanding. I think this is a difficult question for some of us because know one wants to feel that they are a bigger sinner than the next person. But, that is not what is all about.

There are several scriptures that come to my mind as I ponder the question–Mt. 12:31,32; Lk. 12:10; Mk. 3:29; and I Corinthians 6:18. The scriptures tell us that to “whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit never has forgiveness, but is guilty of an eternal sin (Mark 3:29) and I Cor. 6:18 tells us that to–“flee immorality every other sin that a man commits is outside the body, but the immoral man sin against his own body.

To me scripture is clear that the one who rejects the “convicting power of God Holy Spirit” to bring men to repentance–never has repentance and that the immoral man sin affects the whole “body of Christ” this tells me that “sin is not equal.”

    That’s my two cents.
